MADD's
"TIE ONE ON FOR SAFETY" CAMPAIGN ASKS MOTORISTS TO PLEDGE
TO DRIVE SAFE, SOBER AND BUCKLED UP
Local law enforcement agencies in Middle Tennessee joined Mothers
Against Drunk Driving (MADD) to kick off MADD's annual Tie One
On For Safety campaign with a message to drive safe, sober and
buckled up. The popular ribbon program urges motorists to tie
the MADD ribbon to their vehicles as a pledge to be safe on the
roadways, and to especially buckle up since a seat belt is the
best defense against a drunk driver. MADD Tennessee launched this
year's campaign by tying ribbons on local law enforcement vehicles
as a part of a joint meeting of three Middle Tennessee Law Enforcement
Networks - C.A.R.E., G.H.S.O., and S.P.O.R.T.

During the holidays, MADD asks the public to
display MADD red ribbons on all vehicles to support its premier
public awareness campaign - Tie One On For Safety - calling
for stepped-up law enforcement in support of our Campaign
to Eliminate Drunk Driving. |
| MADD's red ribbons are available at the MADD
Tennessee State Office, so call (615)360-8055 to obtain ribbons.
Millions are expected to be distributed nationally, as part
of a tradition throughout the U.S. lasting more than 20 years. |

Campaign
to Eliminate Drunk Driving
Drunk driving can be stopped, so MADD launched the Campaign to
Eliminate Drunk Driving. The Campaign has four key elements:
- Mandatory ignition interlocks for all convicted drunk
drivers
- Support high-visibility law enforcement
- Exploring technologies to make it impossible for a
drunk person to start a car
- Mobilizing public support throughout the nation
November of 2009 marked the 3rd anniversary of the Campaign and
we are proud to announce that 12 states now have laws mandating
ignition interlocks for all convicted drunk drivers. For more
information about this life saving campaign, please visit http://www.madd.org/campaign.aspx.
